For many years, many have lamented the limited access public school students had to the Malaysian Model United Nations circuit, thereby excluding the nation's largest student bloc from reaping the benefits of a modern deliberative and consensus-building exercise that has benefited many youths who have come and gone. 

 

MYADP’s SMK Affairs Department has sought to chart a different course, to create a future that we have all dreamed of: an inclusive community where all youths are able to experience and benefit from Model United Nations. To this end, we present, as one manifestation of the vehicles to this future we wish to realise, the SMK Model United Nations Expo.

 

The SMK Model United Nations Expo will be a 2-day, virtual event where students and teachers alike from public schools across Malaysia may learn about Model United Nations. Throughout the 2 days, we will provide an introduction to the activity, discuss how the activity can be introduced into our public schools, and host several panels where members of our community will be invited to share their experience as fellow MUNers.

 

Ultimately, our goal with this event is to introduce students and teachers to the idea of Model United Nations, and to empower them to build communities of their own. Brick by brick, this barrier of limited access shall henceforth be torn down.
